DEFINE HAPPINESS?
EXTERNAL OR INTERNAL?
OLD TIMES INTERNAL.

In modern times ‘happiness’ is defined in terms of ‘wealth’, ‘power’ etc. All these measures are external in nature and thus beyond our control - so in effect worthless from a Stoic perspective (they are ‘indifferents’). Happiness comes from within and ‘in accordance with Nature’. A much sounder measure you must agree.
